The Community Service Committee has a full programme for 2021-2022 Rotary Year Covid permitting. As we have done in previous years, we would organise various events, spread-out through the year which would be aimed at providing our local community whatever service and help we can. The Memory cafe which we started a few years ago has been a great success! Thanks to all those, who helped in establishing Memory café, and successfully running it. We have every intention to continue running fortnightly Memory cafe meetings next year once the lockdown restrictions are lifted. By the way, as you know we used to receive a generous grant from District 1080 for our Memory café and I hope District 1260 will be able to assist us in the future.Organising community breakfast, once a month, has also been successfully managed in the previousyears and we will continue to do so, providing opportunities for young professionals to get together and network. The other regular events we will organise include Swimathon, Santa at Bury Lane, Father Christmas touring Royston and surrounding villages, providing Christmas decorations at St Georges and Richard Cox Houses and run historic vehicle shows. We would also do collections in the town for Children in Need, East Anglia Children’s Hospice and British Red Cross. Moreover, we have helped the Methodist Church in some of their events in the past and will continue to do so in the new Rotary year.In the past we have run a ‘first aid’ course and health and stroke awareness day. However we have not done so recently. We are therefore looking to see whether we can resurrect these events. So, as you can see, we have a full programme of various events throughout this Rotary year, which we hope would assist in bringing the local community together and raise funds for various charities that our club supports.
