TheCommunityServiceCommitteehasafullprogrammefor2021-2022RotaryYearCovidpermitting.Aswehavedoneinpreviousyears, wewouldorganisevariousevents,spread-outthroughtheyearwhichwouldbeaimedatprovidingourlocalcommunitywhateverservice and help we can. TheMemorycafewhichwestartedafewyearsagohasbeenagreatsuccess!Thankstoallthose,whohelpedinestablishingMemory café,andsuccessfullyrunningit.WehaveeveryintentiontocontinuerunningfortnightlyMemorycafemeetingsnextyearoncethe lockdownrestrictionsarelifted.Bytheway,asyouknowweusedtoreceiveagenerousgrantfromDistrict1080forourMemorycaféandI hope District 1260 will be able to assist us in the future.Organisingcommunitybreakfast,onceamonth,hasalsobeensuccessfullymanagedinthepreviousyearsandwewillcontinuetodoso, providing opportunities for young professionals to get together and network. TheotherregulareventswewillorganiseincludeSwimathon,SantaatBuryLane,FatherChristmastouringRoystonandsurrounding villages,providingChristmasdecorationsatStGeorgesandRichardCoxHousesandrunhistoricvehicleshows.Wewouldalsodo collections in the town for Children in Need, East Anglia Children’s Hospice and British Red Cross. Moreover, we have helped the Methodist Church in some of their events in the past and will continue to do so in the new Rotary year.Inthepastwehaveruna‘firstaid’courseandhealthandstrokeawarenessday.Howeverwehavenotdonesorecently.Wearetherefore looking to see whether we can resurrect these events.So,asyoucansee,wehaveafullprogrammeofvariouseventsthroughoutthisRotaryyear,whichwehopewouldassistinbringingthe local community together and raise funds for various charities that our club supports.
